Summer School Registration Information

May 31, 2022

Dear parent/guardian:

It has always been our goal to support your child’s academic achievements. To assist in academic success, a student must meet a passing score of 60 or higher for the year average to obtain credit for a course.

Jersey City is offering a High School Summer Academy for Credit Recovery program that will take place from Wednesday, June 29, 2022 through Wednesday, August 10, 2022 (excluding Monday, July 4, 2022). The courses will take place at Dr. Ronald E. McNair Academic High School located at 123 Coles Street, and at Abraham Lincoln High School located at 60 Crescent Avenue. Students are eligible to take up to three courses pending class availability at the time of registration.

To begin the registration process, your child’s school counselor will complete the first part of the application process by submitting a required Google form to the Jersey City Board of Education Summer Academy. Your current email is required, please make sure we have the most up to date email on file. Shortly after processing part one of the application, each student’s parent will receive an email (part two) to verify your child’s participation in the program and to request documentation for the Jersey City Summer Academy program.

***The registration process is not complete until the student and parent submit the necessary documentation in response to the email sent from the Jersey City Summer Academy. Incomplete paperwork will cause a delay in the registration process or it may forfeit your child’s spot in the program.

If your child results in passing the course before the end of this school year and you have registered your child, they do not need to attend the summer course. (Contact JCBOE to have them removed from the summer school roster).

If your child successfully completes summer school to satisfy the lost credits of this academic year, their possible retention/credits will be adjusted. This will only occur once we have received their summer school grades and if your child has fulfilled the credits to be promoted.

Best,

Eilleen Cuellar
