Greetings! 

 

My name is John Gurbisz, and I am the English Department Lead at UACHS. This is my 6th year as a full-time English teacher, after spending 3 years at the school in the NJCU teacher internship program. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Rowan University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Master of Arts in Secondary Education from NJCU. Additionally, I spent the 2018/2019 school year teaching English in Teplice, Czech Republic through the Fulbright Scholarship Program. 

 

This year, I am taking on the new challenge of moving from teaching freshmen to seniors; I have 5 sections of English IV and 1 section of English IV Dual Credit, a course where students have the opportunity to earn 3 college credits towards any base-level English Composition course. I am looking forward to meeting new faces as well as engaging with students I have already taught in the 9th grade. 

 

For my class, all assignments will be clearly listed (with due dates) on the whiteboard in my classroom. I use Schoology as my sole means of communication and interaction with my students, and all major projects, essays, and writing assignments will be uploaded through that platform. My syllabus for both courses is attached on this website.
