My Teaching Philosophy:

As an educator, I believe that every student is a unique learner that deserves a positive, interesting, creative, and comfortable learning environment. I believe that it is every educator's duty to create, and maintain such an environment in order for students to be able to develop socially, emotionally, and academically. It is my goal as an educator to create and maintain such an environment as it promotes student engagement, a sense of community, and improves students' self-concept. All of which will better enable students to be academically successful.

As a Secondary Social Studies teacher, I believe it is my responsibility to teach my students how to be active global citizens. I plan to ensure that all of my students are socially and culturally aware of the diverse world they live in and the impact they will have on the future. I will emphasize to my students the importance of understanding the civic responsibility they have to their community, nation, and the globe. This will be done by introducing lessons that expose them to various cultures, reveal to them the many sides to a story, and teach them what it means to take a stand.
